Town Center of Virginia Beach invites you to come dressed in your best costume for our annual “Town and Treat” event on Saturday, October 28th from 11 am to 2 pm! Stop by for free trick-or-treating at Town Center businesses, activity stations, roaming characters, games, music, cotton candy, costume contests, and more! Dress in your finest Halloween costume to win a special prize. There will even be a special appearance by Barbie!

Schedule of Events

11:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Trick-or-Treating

Candy is available on a first come, first serve basis. If you would like to participate in trick-or-treating, we highly recommend that you begin at 11 am. Trick-or-treating location maps will be available at the Town Center Information Station on the day of the event. If a participating business runs out of candy before 2 pm, they will hang an “Out of Candy” sign on their door.

11:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Free Family-Friendly Entertainment

  • Character meet and greets
  • Mad Science of Hampton Roads activity stations
  • Face painting
  • Free Halloween prizes
  • Kids’ life-sized games
  • Mimes, stilt walkers, and more
  • Free cotton candy while it lasts
  • Music by DJ Kelly

11:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Pop Up Touch A Truck

Meet your local superheroes! The Virginia Beach Fire Department will have a fire truck will visit Town Center during the event. Children will have the opportunity to see their vehicles up close and meet the local firefighters. Please be aware that there is not a set time for their visit. These vehicles and crews are in service and are subject to responding to emergency events.

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM | Children’s & Dog Costume Contest

Calling all ghouls and goblins! Enter our 2023 Town and Treat Costume Contest to show off your festive attire. Children 12 and under can enter one of three categories: “Cutest”, “Scariest”, and “Most Creative”. Leashed, well-behaved dogs are permitted to enter the “Best Dressed” Dog Costume Contest.

Know Before You Go

  • Parking is free, all the time, in Town Center. We recommend garage parking for this event.
  • The entire event is free and open to the public. Items are all on a first come, first serve basis.
  • In inclement weather, all outdoor entertainment will be cancelled. Trick-or-treating will be moved inside each participating store.
